Getting preschoolers and school-age children to take medicine can be very challenging for parents. Mixing the liquid medication in pudding, yogurt or applesauce can be helpful to mask the unpleasant taste. Some parents also have success with chocolate syrup. Make sure the entire quantity is taken by mouth so the full dose of medication is administered. The same can be done for some tablets that are allowed to be crushed or capsules that are allowed to be opened and sprinkled. **Be sure to find out whether the medication is safe to be crushed or opened and sprinkled as not all medications allow for this.
